Factors associated with post-stroke suicidal death

Hong JP, et al. - The relative risk of suicidal death compared to the general population was estimated in stroke patients. In addition, the authors identified risk factors for suicidal death among stroke patients. In comparison to the general population, the risk of suicidal death was around 2 times higher among these patients. In the implementation of suicide prevention strategies in stroke patients, depression, diabetes, and large lesions in specific locations ought to be considered.
