Factors associated with health‐related quality of life in patients with cirrhosis: A systematic review
Liver International Oct 07, 2020
Rabiee A, Ximenes RO, Nikayin S, et al. - By performing a systematic review of the literature, researchers investigated factors most frequently related to a poor health related quality of life (HRQoL) in adults suffering from cirrhosis. Studies that assessed a link between at least one factor and HRQoL in adult patients with cirrhosis were identified from four databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, CENTRAL and PsycINFO). Experts reviewed 10,647 citations, of which 109 satisfied eligibility criteria. Findings revealed that poor HRQoL in patients with cirrhosis was impacted by many factors such as depression, muscle cramps, poor sleep, falls, frailty and malnutrition. Among cirrhosis decompensating events, hepatic encephalopathy was identified as the complication that was most frequently related to a poor HRQoL.
