Factors associated with hand and upper arm functional disability in people with rheumatoid arthritis: A systematic review
Arthritis Care & Research Oct 23, 2019
Alkabeya HA, et al. - In people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), researchers conducted this systematic review to analyze factors associated with hand functional disability. A comprehensive and thorough systematic literature search was performed for peer-reviewed English-language observational studies in 6 medical databases which discuss the factors associated with hand function for RA people. The criteria for inclusion was met by 20 articles from 1,271 citations. Although the evidence level was limited, they identified modifiable factors like grip strength, disease activity, and pain as the most influential factors on hand function in RA people. Important sociodemographic factors in clinical research that impact hand function in people with RA have not yet been considered or reported.
