Factors associated with bronchiectasis in patients with uncontrolled asthma; the NOPES score: A study in 398 patients
Respiratory Research Mar 23, 2018
Padilla-Galo A, et al. - The prevalence of bronchiectasis in uncontrolled moderate-to-severe asthma was determined and risk factors and the correlation with bronchiectasis was evaluated in these patients. Bronchiectasis was noted in nearly one-third of the patients with uncontrolled moderate-to-severe asthma. Bronchiectasis was associated with the severity of asthma, the presence of chronic expectoration, a previous history of pneumonia, and lower levels of fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO). For bronchiectasis in patients with uncontrolled moderate-to-severe asthma, the NOPES score was observed as an easy-to-use scoring system with a high prognostic value.
