Factors affecting willingness to get assessed and treated for osteoporosis

Osteoporosis International Apr 09, 2019

Roh YH, et al. - In this nationwide online survey conducted among 926 older Korean women, researchers assessed factors influencing the willingness of subjects to either undergo or avoid assessment and treatment for osteoporosis. Survey questions addressed 3 domains: clinical and socio-demographic characteristics, questions related to the reasons for undergoing or avoiding osteoporosis assessment or treatment, and knowledge of osteoporosis as estimated using the modified Korean version of Facts on Osteoporosis Quiz. According to findings, women with poor knowledge of osteoporosis and those of lower socioeconomic status, including those who were single and had a lower level of annual income, were less likely to be assessed and treated for osteoporosis.
