Extreme long-term voice outcomes after concurrent chemoradiotherapy for advanced non-laryngeal head and neck cancer: Eight year post treatment analysis
Clinical Otolaryngology Aug 09, 2018
Davies-Husband C, et al. - In patients with non-laryngeal head and neck cancer, experts evaluated the long-term impacts of concurrent chemoradiation on voice outcomes. For advanced non-laryngeal head and neck cancer, radiation therapy had a significant, deleterious effect on voice, which is evident up to 8 years following treatment. Over time, a continuous deterioration in both the VoiSS impairment and GRBAS domains from pre-treatment to 92.6 months post-treatment was seen. Increase in total VoiSS was strongly associated with GRBAS scores. No statistically significant variation in fundamental frequency was demonstrated with acoustic analysis.
