Chiu YJ, et al. – For this study, the physicians shared their successful experience of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment in the casualties of the Formosa Water Park Dust Explosion Disaster. They concluded that ECMO could be a lifesaving modality for burn patients with severe lung injury who were nonresponsive to maximal medical management, particularly for young patients with early ECMO intervention.
