Extended right thoracic approach compared with limited left thoracic approach for patients with middle and lower esophageal squamous cell carcinoma: Three-year survival of a prospective, randomized, open-label trial
Annals of Surgery Apr 16, 2018
Li B, et al. - Researchers investigated if survival is improved by using the right thoracic approach (extended lymphadenectomy) compared with the left thoracic approach (limited lymphadenectomy) for esophageal cancer. The right thoracic approach was observed to be associated with increased disease-free survival and overall survival in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients when compared with the left thoracic approach. This was particularly observed in patients with lymph node involvement and/or R1–2 resection margins.
