Expression of pyruvate kinase M2 in human bladder cancer and its correlation with clinical parameters and prognosis
OncoTargets and Therapy Apr 18, 2018
Huang CK, et al. - The links between pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2, a key regulator of the Warburg effect and contributor to tumor growth, angiogenesis, cell division, metastasis, and apoptosis) expression and clinicopathological parameters and prognosis in human bladder cancer were analyzed using the Kaplan–Meier plots and a Cox proportional hazards regression model. The expression of PKM2 was found to be significantly associated with grade, stage, and lymph node status. Upregulation of PKM2 protein and mRNA was noted in urothelial carcinomas of the bladder (UCBs) and these may serve as molecular markers for a poor prognosis in patients with UCB.
