Expression of markers of Müllerian clear cell carcinoma in primary cervical and vaginal gastric-type adenocarcinomas
International Journal of Gynecologic Pathology Apr 21, 2019
Talia KL, et al. - Researchers investigated the utility of markers of clear cell carcinoma (CCC) including hepatocyte nuclear factor 1 beta (HNF1β) and Napsin A in distinguishing between gastric-type adenocarcinoma (GAS) and CCC. They stained 24 cases of GAS (19 cervical, 5 vaginal), 3 of cervical gastric-type adenocarcinoma in situ and 14 CCCs (13 cervical, 1 vaginal) with these antibodies. Findings suggest the value of Napsin A for resolving diagnostic confusion between GAS and CCC. However, they do not support the use of HNF1β in this setting as it lacks specificity.
