Expression of MAGE-A and NY-ESO-1 cancer-testis antigens is enriched in triple-negative invasive breast cancers
Histopathology Mar 05, 2018
Raghavendra A, et al. - This study quantified the expression of MAGE-A and NY-ESO-1 cancer testis antigens (CTAs) in breast cancer patients, and correlated with known clinicopathologic parameters. The findings revealed the frequent expression of MAGE-A and NY-ESO-1 in TNBC (∼47% and 17% of triple-negative [TN] cases, respectively). Targeting CTAs is feasible in this patient group. It was shown that the expression of CTAs is reasonably homogeneous in positive cases, which suggested that immunohistochemistry analysis of tissue biopsies would be a reliable companion biomarker.
