Expression of MAGE-A and NY-ESO-1 cancer/testis antigens is enriched in triple-negative invasive breast cancers
Histopathology Jun 08, 2018
Raghavendra A, et al. - Using immunohistochemical analysis of tissue microarrays, MAGE-A and NY-ESO-1 expression in an unselected cohort of three hundred sixty-seven breast tumours (of which 65 were triple-negative {TN}), with accompanying clinical follow-up data were surveyed in order to evaluate the expression of MAGE-A and NY-ESO-1 cancer/testis antigens (CTAs) in breast cancer, and relate this to known clinicopathological parameters. In this group of patient, MAGE-A and NY-ESO-1 were frequently expressed in TN breast cancer proposing that targeting them could be feasible. Findings suggested that expression was reasonably homogeneous in positive cases, thereby, immunohistochemical analysis of tissue biopsies would be a reliable companion biomarker.
