Expression of Lamin A/C in early-stage breast cancer and its prognostic value
Breast Cancer Research and Treatment Jan 09, 2019
Alhudiri IM, et al. - Researchers assessed 938 patients to evaluate the expression and prognostic value of lamin A/C (a component that helps in maintaining nuclear integrity, regulation of gene expression, cell proliferation, and apoptosis) in early-stage breast cancer by using immunohistochemical staining of tissue microarrays. In these patients, they observed 42.2% of positive expression rate of lamin A/C and an association of reduced/loss of expression of lamin A/C with shorter breast cancer-specific survival. They also noted a significant link between reduced/loss of expression of lamin A/C and high histological grade, larger tumor size, poor Nottingham Prognostic Index score, lymphovascular invasion and development of distant metastasis.
