Watanabe T, et al. – Whether or not the expression of intelectin–1 (ITLN–1) in bronchial epithelial cells of asthma was correlated with T–helper 2 (Type–2) related parameters and its function had been investigated in this study. IL–13 induced ITLN–1. In addition, ITLN–1 expressed mainly in goblet cells in untreated asthma where its levels correlated with known Type–2 related parameters, further to this it inhibited Type–1 chemokine expression.
