Expression of 15-lipoxygenase-1 in Merkel cell carcinoma is linked to advanced disease
Clinical Otolaryngology Jul 16, 2018
Fochtmann-Frana A, et al. - Experts assessed if the expression of 15-lipoxygenase-1 (ALOX15) in primary tumor specimens has prognostic value in terms of lymph node metastasis and subsequently clinical outcome in Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) patients. Patients with primary MCC stages I and II were categorized as group I, and those with regional lymph node metastases and/or distant metastases were defined as group II. In the primary MCC sample and the metastasis sample, ALOX15 expression was seen. Findings suggested a probable link of expression rate of ALOX15 in primary MCC and metastases to increased lymphatic vessel density.
