Expression and prognostic relevance of long noncoding RNAs CRNDE and AOX2P in adult acute myeloid leukemia
International Journal of Laboratory Hematology Jun 20, 2021
Hola MAM, Ali MAM, ElNahass Y, et al. - This study was conducted to investigate if expression of the lncRNA (long noncoding RNA) colorectal neoplasia differentially expressed (CRNDE) and aldehyde oxidase 2 pseudogene (AOX2P) was related to clinicopathological characteristics as well as clinical outcome of patients suffering from acute myeloid leukemia (AML). They analyzed diagnostic blood samples from 200 adult patients with de novo AML, as well as 50 healthy control blood samples, to measure CRNDE and AOX2P expression levels. They found AML patients experienced a poor prognosis in relation to aberrantly upregulated CRNDE expression and, to a lesser extent, AOX2P overexpression. This indicates that not only useful prognostic information can be obtained by determination of CRNDE and, perhaps, AOX2P, expression level at diagnosis, but also this would permit refinement of risk stratification as well as offer aid in clinical decision-making in AML.
