Exploring the efficacy of using hypertonic saline for nebulizing treatment in children with bronchiolitis: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
BMC Pediatrics Sep 18, 2020
Hsieh CW, Chen C, Su HC, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers tested the safety and effectiveness of hypertonic saline (HS) in the implementation of treatment with nebulized HS among children with bronchiolitis. A systematic literature search was performed utilizing Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE and Airiti Library (Chinese Database) for randomized controlled trials from the beginning to July 2019. There were 32 publications involved. The sample consisted of 4,186 children. According to results, nebulization with 3% saline solution is effective in reducing hospital stay length and symptoms severity compared with 0.9% saline solution in children with acute bronchiolitis.
