Exercise training for improving patient-reported outcomes in patients with advanced-stage cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Journal of Pain and Symptom Management Sep 26, 2019
Chen YJ, Li XX, Ma HK, et al. - Via performing a meta-analysis of 15 randomized controlled trials enrolling 1,208 patients, researchers sought to determine if exercise interventions for patients with advanced-stage cancer could improve cancer-related symptoms and functional status outcomes. An exercise in comparison to usual care results in a significant improvement in quality of life (QoL), fatigue, insomnia, physical function, social function, and dyspnea reduction. Outcomes thereby support the potential of exercise as an efficacious intervention to enhance QoL and mitigate fatigue, insomnia, dyspnea, and physical and social function for advanced-stage cancer patients.
