Li MS, et al. - The incidence and risk factors of recurrent pneumonia were investigated in patients with bipolar disorder. An excess incidence of recurring pneumonia was found in these patients, and this risk was correlated with pre-existing medical conditions but not psychotropic agents. Physicians ought to carefully consider the comorbid medical conditions of patients with bipolar disorder that could lead to recurrent pneumonia.
