Woolf SH, Chapman DA, Sabo RT, et al. - The present research was conducted to update the analysis for the remainder of 2020. Researchers examined US mortality in March-July 2020 reporting a 20% increase in excess deaths, only partly explained by COVID-19. The results demonstrate that surges in excess deaths varied in timing and duration across states and were accompanied by elevated mortality from non–COVID-19 causes.
