Evidence of a causal relationship between body mass index and psoriasis: A Mendelian randomization study
PLoS Medicine Feb 07, 2019
Budu-Aggrey A, et al. - Investigators used a Mendelian randomization (MR) approach to examine the causal relationship between higher body mass index (BMI) and psoriasis among 753,421 people from largest population-based studies available, as well as published genome-wide association studies (GWASs). They observed a mean difference in BMI of 1.26 kg/m2 between adult patients with psoriasis and controls participants, compared with a mean difference of 1.55 kg/m2 in children. According to findings, obesity may contribute to the pathogenesis of psoriasis.
