Evidence for increased chylomicron remnants in rheumatoid arthritis
European Journal of Clinical Investigation Dec 19, 2017
Burggraaf B, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to the apolipoprotein (apo) B48 levels in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in association with subclinical atherosclerosis. Higher levels of apo B48 was unveiled among RA patients compared to controls with high cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk and healthy controls, with normal levels of triglycerides. It was deduced that this accumulation of atherogenic chylomicron remnants could contribute to the elevated CVD risk in RA patients.
