Evaluation of various apparent diffusion coefficient measurement techniques in preoperative staging of early cervical carcinoma
European Journal of Radiology Aug 27, 2019
Mongula JE, Bakers F, Slangena BFM, et al. - Since a more reliable staging of cervical cancer can potentially be attained using DW-MRI parameters such as ADC, researchers performed this prospective cohort study to compare 2D region of interest (ROI) measurement techniques vs 3D tumor analysis in ADC assessment for cervical cancer. They also focused on the usefulness of ADC for evaluating parametrial and/or lymph node involvement. Cervical cancer patients who had preoperative MRI with T1, T2W, and axial DWI were registered. Findings revealed the reliability of single ROI measurements for establishing mean ADC (ADCMean) in cervical cancer. Prediction of parametrial involvement before radical hysterectomy can be potentially done using ADCMean as a parameter.
