International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Mar 03, 2018
van Beeck Calkoen EA, et al. - In children with symmetric and asymmetric bilateral sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), the experts assessed the clinically relevant abnormalities as visualized on CT and MR imaging, in relation to age and the severity of hearing loss. In the etiologic evaluation of children with bilateral SNHL, imaging was seen to be essential. In children with bilateral asymmetric SNHL or profound SNHL, the highest diagnostic yield was found. Results suggested that because of its high diagnostic yield, MR was the primary imaging modality of choice in the etiological evaluation of children with bilateral SNHL.
