Evaluation of the effect of metformin and insulin in hyperglycemia treatment after coronary artery bypass surgery in nondiabetic patients

Ghods K, et al. - Metformin and insulin were tested as treatment options for hyperglycemia following coronary artery bypass surgery in nondiabetic patients. Metformin 500 mg twice daily was found to be affecting nondiabetic patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft in a similar way as does insulin. Overall, metformin can be considered as a treatment strategy for hyperglycemia in this group of patients.
