Walsh JA, et al. - Researchers sought to compare the prevalence and incidence of comorbidities between patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and matched controls using national claims databases. Compared to the matched controls, a higher proportion of patients developed newly diagnosed cases of cardiovascular diseases, depression, osteoporosis, spinal fracture, inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis, and uveitis after AS diagnosis. This real-world study suggested that significantly more comorbidities were seen in patients with AS vs matched controls
