Evaluation of the cascade of diabetes care in the United States, 2005-2016
JAMA Oct 17, 2019
Kazemian P, et al. - Through this population-based study of 2,488 nonpregnant US adults (age ≥ 18 years) with diabetes who had reported fasting for 9 or more hours, researchers assessed whether the cascade of US diabetes care, defined as diabetes diagnosis, connection to care, and attainment of individual and combined treatment targets, enhanced from 2005 to 2016 and examined possible differences in US diabetes care. It seemed that in the United States, diabetes care cascade had not markedly enhanced between 2005 and 2016. The findings imply that gaps in diabetes care that were seen in 2005 continued, especially among younger adults (18-44 years), women, and nonwhite people.
