Considerably lower levels of serum Se and erythrocyte GSH-Px levels of cases were detected with recurrent tonsillitis than in the healthy controls. The decline in serum Se and erythrocyte GSH-Px enzyme levels could cause a predisposition to a chronic disease state. However, advanced studies were warranted.
