Evaluation of serum and urinary orsomucoid protein A in psoriatic patients and their relation to severity of disease
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology May 01, 2021
Khalid HN, Abd El Gayed EM, Elrsool AMA, et al. - Given that orsomucoid protein A (ORM) is a major acute-phase protein and elevated urinary ORM (u‐ORM) has been linked to pathomechanism factors related to psoriasis like endothelial dysfunction, but its clinical relevance has yet to be determined, researchers sought to evaluate serum ORM (se‐ORM)/u‐ORM protein A and urinary orsomcoid protein A/ urinary creatinine (u‐ORM/u‐CREAT) in psoriasis patient and their relations to the severity of the disease. The sample consisted of 35 psoriasis patients and 35 age and sex-matched healthy controls. According to this case‐control study, u‐ORM/u‐CREAT is a new, highly sensitive, and easily accessible inflammatory biomarker of psoriasis that correlates with disease severity.
