Evaluation of port site hernias, chronic pain and recurrence rates after laparoscopic ventral hernia repair: A monocentric long-term study
Hernia Sep 07, 2017
Liot E, et al. – This monocentric long–term study was performed to assess hernia appearance at the trocar site after laparoscopic treatment of primary or incisional ventral hernias using an intraperitoneal prosthetic mesh. Moreover, this study assessed chronic pain at the trocar site and primary hernia recurrence. With low rates of hernia recurrence and a low morbidity rate, laparoscopic repair for primary or incisional ventral hernias was a safe surgical approach. The incidence of port site hernias was very low when fascial closure was maintained for 10 mm port sites. Five–millimetre ports did not require closure.
