Evaluation of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio as a prognostic indicator in a Singapore cohort of patients with clinically localized prostate cancer treated with prostatectomy
World Journal of Urology Apr 12, 2019
Lu Y, et al. - Data from 668 patients treated with prostatectomy in Singapore General Hospital from 1998 to 2014 were analyzed to study if neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) could be a prognostic marker in localized prostate cancer. They observed no significant association of NLR with histopathological status, including Gleason score (≤ 6 vs 7 vs ≥ 8), lymph node metastasis (negative vs positive), or surgical margin status (negative vs positive). They did not find NLR ≥ 2.09 was a prognostic factor for reduced metastasis-free survival, cancer-specific survival, overall survival, and biochemical disease-free survival. Even in high-risk subgroup cases vs the rest, no difference was observed for NLR.
