Evaluation of mapping biopsies for extramammary Paget's disease: A retrospective study

Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Jan 05, 2018

Kaku-Ito Y, et al. - The objective of this work was to examine the mapping biopsy for extramammary Paget’s disease (EMPD). For well-defined EMPD or when 2 cm margins could be achieved, mapping biopsies were found to be unnecessary. On the other hand, surgical removal with predetermined margins (1 cm for well-defined EMPD and 2 cm for ill-defined EMPD) was disclosed to be safe. It was deduced that mapping biopsy could be considered when shortening of the safe surgical margin to <2 cm was required in ill-defined EMPD.
