Evaluation of low bone mass and prediction of fracture risk using metacarpal radiogrammetry method: A comparative study with DXA and X-ray phantom
International Journal of Rheumatic Diseases Jul 12, 2018
Kumar DA, et al. - Researchers sought to predict the future risk of osteoporotic fracture in women using a simple forearm radiograph. They also evaluated osteoporosis in southern Indian women by using radiogrammetric technique in comparison with dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and X-ray phantom study. As per data, for predicting the future risk of osteoporotic fracture in women metacarpal region (M-CCT) and M-CCT (%) at the second metacarpal region were useful. An exact condition of forearm radiogrammetry was mimiced by the aluminium phantom study with an X-ray tube to film distance of 100 cm.
