Evaluation of hyoscine N-butyl bromide efficacy on the prevention of catheter-related bladder discomfort after transurethral resection of prostate: A randomized, double-blind control trial
International Urology and Nephrology Oct 20, 2017
Sabetian G, et al. - Hyoscine N-butyl bromide was tested as a management option for catheter-related bladder discomfort (CRBD) following transurethral resection of prostate (TURP). In patients who underwent TURP for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and received hyoscine N-butyl bromide for CRBD related to TURP, researchers observed a reduction in the severity of CRBD as well as the need for analgesic consumption either. Furthermore, hyoscine N-butyl bromide afforded a shorter length of stay in the recovery room. Overall, regarding its availability and low cost, it can be an effective pain relief drug for this group of patients.
