Evaluation of fine needle aspiration cytology in the diagnosis of cervical lymph node lymphomas
Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery May 03, 2018
Houcine Y, et al. - Authors evaluated the reliability of fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) in the diagnosis of cervical lymph node lymphomas. Findings suggested the capability of cytology to detect nodes suspicious for the presence of lymphoma precisely, in terms of low- or high-grade lymphoma. A sensitivity of 95.5%, specificity of 98.7%, positive predictive value (PPV) of 97.7%, and negative predictive value (NPP) of 97.5% was seen with FNAC of cervical lymph nodes. This is a relevant and very achievable first step in the management of patients with cervical lymph node lymphoma.
