Evaluation of dislocation risk factors with total hip arthroplasty in developmental hip dysplasia patients: A multivariate analysis
Journal of Arthroplasty Sep 17, 2020
Yetkin C, Yildirim T, Alpay Y, et al. - In this study, the risk factors for dislocation was tested in patients diagnosed with developmental dysplasia of the hip who underwent total hip arthroplasty. A total of 40 patients who developed dislocation were retrospectively reviewed and compared them with 400 individuals in the control group without hip instability. Researchers compared patients-, surgery-, and implant-related factors. Multivariate logistic regression was applied to assess risk factors. The data exhibited that individuals with diabetes mellitus and previous hip surgery should be informed about elevated dislocation rates. It is essential to use a larger head diameter and restoration of the true hip rotation center to prevent hip dislocation in these patients. Moreover, accurate positioning of the acetabular inclination and anteversion is also essential.
