Evaluation of CareStart Malaria HRP2/pLDH (Pf/pan) Combo Test in a malaria low transmission region of Senegal
Malaria Journal Aug 16, 2017
Diallo MA, et al. – The purpose of this work was to assess whether the prevalence of malaria obtained with rapid diagnostic test (RDT) (CareStart Malaria HRP2/pLDH Combo Test) was higher than in microscopy in a malaria low transmission area of Senegal. In addition, authors performed PCR to evaluate the performance of the RDT compared to microscopy in clinical settings. Malaria CareStart RDT test here indicated a superior sensitivity compared to microscopy, which was the gold standard for malaria diagnosis. They identified CareStart RDT as a useful tool in individuals suspected of malaria even in areas where prevalence is low.
