Evaluation of a rapid one-step PSA test for primary prostate cancer screening
BMC Urology Oct 02, 2021
Ashida S, Yamasaki I, Kawada C, et al. - In this analysis of a one-step prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test for prostate cancer (PC) screening, the feasibility of PSA testing using the PSA SPOT test kit was evident. The test affords a useful and convenient tool for primary PC screening, with its low cost and speed.
A large population of men underwent PC screening using the PSA SPOT test.
The test afforded a sensitivity 79.9%, specificity 93.0%, positive and negative predictive values 65.4 and 96.6%, and accuracy was 91.2%.
With variations in the reading time, changes occurred in the sensitivity and specificity of the test.
Quantitative evaluation of the intensity of the band showed correlation with the PSA value.
