Evaluation of a computer-aided diagnosis system for automated bone age assessment in comparison to the Greulich-Pyle Atlas method: A multi-reader study
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography Jan 27, 2019
Booz C, et al. - Authors examined 305 candidates to study comparatively, a new version of a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system generated for estimation of automated bone age (BA) and the Greulich and Pyle method, in terms of its accuracy and also the impact of carpal bones on BA evaluation. Three blinded radiologists ascertained total BA, BA of the left distal radius, and BA of carpal bones independently and then, estimated by the CAD system. They observed a high correlation between both approaches when mean total BA and BA of the distal radius were estimated. While evaluating carpal bones they also found significantly lower precision and interreader agreement in comparison with measurements of the distal radius.
