Evaluating rates of symptoms of urinary tract infection after post-hysterectomy cystoscopy with 50% dextrose
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Feb 20, 2018
Misal M, et al. - Researchers performed a comparison of the rate of urinary tract infection (UTI) and lower urinary tract (LUT) injury detection in different population–younger women who have undergone intraoperative cystoscopy with 50% dextrose solution or normal saline (NS) immediately following benign laparoscopic hysterectomy. Following benign laparoscopic hysterectomy, the vast majority of women experienced no UTI symptoms, and LUT injury was rare. Their clinical experience did not consistently support the prior finding of increased odds of UTI following dextrose cystoscopy. This may be due to differences in technique or use in a different population.
