Eurolung risk score is associated with long-term survival following curative resection for lung cancer
The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Aug 27, 2020
Brunelli A, Chaudhuri N, Kefaloyannis M, et al. - By analyzing consecutive patients (n = 1,359) receiving anatomic lung resection (1,136 lobectomies, 103 pneumonectomies, 120 segmentectomies) (2014-2018), researchers intended to confirm if the Eurolung score was linked to long term prognosis following lung cancer resection. For each patient, the aggregate Eurolung2 score was computed, then patients were categorized into 4 classes based on these scores (A 0-2.5, B 3-5, C 5.5-6.5, D 7-11.5). Across the groups as scores got larger, 5-year overall survival decreased (A: 75%; B: 52%; C: 29%; D: 27%). In patients with either pT1 or pT>1, 3-year overall survival was well-stratified with the score. Overall, findings demonstrated a link of Eurolung aggregate score with long-term survival following curative resection for cancer.
