Ethnic disparities in treatment rates for hypertension and dyslipidemia: An analysis by different treatment indications the Healthy Life in an Urban Setting study
Journal of Hypertension Jun 06, 2018
Perini W, et al. - Among those with an indication for treatment based on individual cardiovascular risk factors (ICRF) and overall cardiovascular risk (OCR), authors assessed ethnic disparities in treatment rates for hypertension and dyslipidemia. The occurrence of cardiovascular risk factors and treatment rates were determined among 11,357 participants from six ethnic backgrounds living in Amsterdam via data from the HELIUS study. Ethnic minority groups did not demonstrate lower treatment rates for hypertension and dyslipidemia compared to the Dutch. They are even higher, in some cases, but these differences may be overestimated whenever using ICRF as treatment indication.
