Estimates of state-level chronic hepatitis C virus infection, stratified by race and sex, United States, 2010
BMC Infectious Diseases May 19, 2018
Hall EW, et al. - Researchers aimed at determining the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) burden stratified by sex and race (and associated disparities) for each U.S. state using three publicly available data sources. Nationally, males demonstrated an estimated HCV RNA prevalence of 1.56% and females demonstrated a prevalence of 0.75%. National estimated prevalence of HCV RNA was noted to be highest among non-Hispanic black, followed by non-Hispanic white and Hispanic/other. Findings suggest that across the country, HCV infection disparities by sex are mostly consistent. However, states varied in terms of racial differences in HCV infection.
