American Journal of Ophthalmology Feb 08, 2019
dana R, et al. - Between January 1, 2003, to March 31, 2015, researchers assessed the Department of Defense (DOD) Military Health System (MHS) data on beneficiary medical claims from United States DOD military and civilian facilities, to estimate overall prevalence, annual prevalence, and incidence of dry eye disease (DED). They observed the overall prevalence of DED, 5.28% (7.78% among females, 2.96% among males, and increased with age from 0.20% for ages 2–17 years, to 11.66% for ages 50+ years). They concluded an increase in DED overall prevalence, annual prevalence, and incidence over time for all demographics.
