Indraccolo U, et al. - A systematic review was conducted to establish a rate of atypical PN from a clinical series of female individuals with chronic pelvic-perineal pain. For qualitative analysis, from 2637 references, nine studies were included. Three of them were not fit for data synthesis: one estimated the rate of PN after hip arthroscopy; second recorded miscellaneous individuals, a third examined individuals with gynecological diseases. Allowing data synthesis, six studies included individuals with suspicion of pudendal entrapment symptoms (205 patients observed). Researchers found that the overall rate of atypical PN is 0.013, I2 0%. Future analysis implies the risk of bias for all studies. In females, atypical PN is low when clinical criteria for pudendal entrapment syndrome are used.
