Establishment of a non-squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx nomogram prognostic model and prognosis analysis
Auris Nasus Larynx Jul 28, 2021
Fan L, Zhao R, Chen X, et al. - Researchers sought to compare the prognosis of laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and non-squamous cell carcinomas (nSCCs) of the larynx, as well as to establish a nomogram for nSCCs of the larynx. After propensity score matching, prognosis between the 529 pairs nSCCs of the larynx patients and LSCC patients were compared. Five hundred ninety-one patients with nSCCs of the larynx were divided into modelling and validation groups. The consistency index (C-index) and the calibration curve were used to assess the nomogram's prognostic accuracy. The prognosis of nSCCs of the larynx was worse than that of LSCC. Age, race, tumor location, tumor-node-metastasis stage, and method were all independent prognostic factors for nSCCs of the larynx. The nomogram's reliability is demonstrated by internal and external validation. The nomogram demonstrated good prognostic accuracy and would help clinicians make more accurate patient evaluations.
