Sarmento KMA, et al. Â This trial was performed to figure out whether patients with simple chronic otitis media and incomplete ossicular discontinuity should undergo ossicular reconstruction. In Type I patients, the postoperative hearing outcomes were similar for the reconstruction and no reconstruction groups. Whereas, for Type II patients, the results clearly favored reconstruction.
