Erectile dysfunction, testosterone levels and disease activity in ankylosing spondylitis patients
Urology Feb 06, 2021
Nisihara R, Heil LJ, Fagundes FG, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to examine erectile function in male patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) trying to correlate it with sexual hormonal profile and disease activity. The sample consisted of 35 AS patients and 104 controls. The patients and controls responded to the IIEF (International Index of Erectile Dysfunction) and had dosing of total testosterone, free testosterone, bioavailable testosterone, serum hormone binding globulin, albumin and luteinizing hormone. According to findings, patients with AS had poorer sexual performance than controls that was linked to disease activity but not to male sexual hormonal profile.
