Epsilon aminocaproic acid to reduce blood loss and transfusion after total hip and total knee arthroplasty

Hobbs JC, et al. – Presumed ability of epsilon aminocaproic acid (EACA) in attenuating blood loss and transfusion after joint arthroplasty, was tested in this current study. Use of the EACA protocol in patients undergoing primary arthroplasty brought about attenuations in hemoglobin loss and transfusion. Furthermore, it was reported that EACA incurs lower cost than TXA.
