Epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma: A population-based survival analysis
BMC Ear, Nose and Throat Disorders Aug 22, 2018
Gore MR - Patients with epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma were examined regarding demographic, site, stage, and survival factors. Researchers searched the 1973–2014 SEER (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results) cancer database for patients treated for epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma. Observations revealed that the parotid gland is the most frequent site where epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (a malignant, histologically biphasic neoplasm) is located. They noted a low nodal and distant metastasis rates. Survival was identified to be significantly influenced by age at diagnosis, race, AJCC stage, T, N, M stage, and treatment type.
